Student Admissions

Our aim is to make your admission procedure flow thoroughly and in order to do this we work closely with the admission departments of the universities. This is done to secure the most up to date information on admissions criteria and university entry requirements. We assist students in creating and submitting their UCAS applications along with direct applications to the universities.

Many Universities take on students whilst following a generalized criteria, yet some Universities do tend to have their own unique admissions criteria. For most courses which require an admissions test, students are subjected to a UCAS application date of mid October. This is the case for Medicine and Dentistry as applicants are expected to take the UCAT before submitting their applications.

Universities such as Oxford and Cambridge use their own specific tests that are not conventionally used by other Universities. For example Art and design courses will often require applicants to have completed a foundation diploma as part of the entry requirements and will also necessitate the production of a portfolio of work. Many vocational courses that lead to a professional qualification require pre-testing and an interview. These include social work, nursing, and midwifery so International students applying need to show that they have English language skills at the required level before they are given admissions.

Many, if not all Universities stand in need of the IELTS and those of which don’t, offer their own English Language tests, the British Education Experts provide aid on all. Of course some courses advocate the students to go through interviewing or multiple-mini interviews, which assess a range of abilities; situational judgment, stress induced thinking and more. We provide help on all these interviews throughout the admissions process once students make it the this point. Further details of these can be found on the appropriate University pages or through UCAS. If students are applying to a conservatoire, they need to apply directly to the University and not through UCAS.

Interviews

Many students fear University interviews and find this experience nerve-racking. However it is important to remember that receiving an interview invitation means that the admissions team approves your application. Interviews can range from a formal questioning to an informal group sessions designed to encourage you to choose a specific course. Interviews in general, can last from ten minutes to an hour and are usually conducted by one interviewer. They also vary depending on the subject you are applying to study. For example, English students may need to discuss a poem with their interviewer, while medicine applicants might be asked to react to a situation they would likely encounter in medical school. University Tutors are interested to see students that are enthusiastic about their courses. Your application has done sufficient enough to encourage them so far, therefore now is the time to just be yourself. Tutors may ask you to expand on any claims you made in your personal statement which demonstrates your particular interest in the subject, which is why it’s important to remain as honest as possible when writing it. University Interviewers will expect students to prove that they possess sufficient knowledge of the course and the university to further study there. Their questions will range from asking why you want to study the specific course to you say to day hobbies. Here are some pointers on how to ace the interviews. Try mock interviews with your friends or fellow students. Familiarise yourself with your personal statement and be prepared to elaborate on anything you’ve said Have some questions ready for the tutors make them interesting and genuine. No interview is a perfect interview, just feel relaxed and treat is as a conversation.
